That woofer is made in China and is a chinese imitation of a TC driver. I hate to tell you this (Pollo loco) but it does not have two inches of throw either. They may tell you it does but that is just a marketing scheme.
The Eclipse Ti, is capable of 3"+ Xmax (you can push it with your hands and do it) but the magnet will never allow it to acheive this length. The woofer's Xsus (amount of throw the suspension allows) is well over 1" each way. However the Xmag (amount of the throught the magnet structure will support) is actually only 23mm (one way). Now that still is far, but not what they claim. So it is possible to move that far, but no amp will ever be able to push it that far since the magnet will not allow it.
In Reference to "gain" levels: (This is a one thing that irritates me)
Your gain IS NOT a volume knob or any sort of watt control (Someone said that to me once ...lol). If you have a 4v radio and your amps sensitivity is from 3V to 200mV your amps will produce FULL volume with the gain all the way down. Of coarse this is when the radio is producing 3V output into the amps input section. So by saying your amp was below half way means (I'll say it once) NOTHING. The gain is there to match the source unit's (radio, crossover, line driver, etc...) output with the amps input. If you have a Pryramid radio (just an example) it has 250mV output, you WOULD then have to have your gain all the way up for that amp to reach its full potential.
As for Dynamic power, most maufactures use it instead of Peak, that is just the way they are. Alpine use to be the same way, not sure what they do now though. MTX is a good amp, but remember they are a corporation trying to make money, they will tell you what they want to sell product. They do back most of there claims. Until you test the amp for yourself, how do you know the birth certificate is correct.
I'm not tryin to piss anyone off but that is how it is in the car audio biz....just my very long 2 cents.....lol
