The "birth certificate" is what I was referring to. There are two ratings, 12.5 volt RMS rating, and a dynamic 14.4 volt. Dynamic in this case most definitely refers to peak power. Basically, the circuitry remains the same in the amplifier regardless of the input power, so the power at 14.4 volts should be no more than 15% higher than the rating at 12.5v. But on cheaper amps, could potentially be less.
Please don't take my message the wrong way, i'm not saying your amp is bad, quite the opposite, it happens to be one of my favorite brands. When you posted that the power rating was 117% higher with a 15% change in voltage it didn't add up so I checked the MTX website and found out the way they came up with the ratings on the birth certificates.
Oh, and I don't doubt that it puts out more than the advertised rating.
