Fall is fast approaching...and so is the annual fall meet. Over the past few years we have met in the woods and played thru the leaves to Mt. Wachusett. It appears there will be two Applefest weekends this year, October 18-19 (Octoberfest) and October 25-26 (Countryfest). We could continue the tradition this year or we could shoot for something else. One thought was to modify the day slightly by adding in a restaurant at the end of the day. I remember last years meet was pretty cold....cough....Elky....which reduced the enthusiasm for outdoor activity. But on the other hand I enjoy the conversations that spring up in our meets that can't quite happen if we spend the whole day driving.

Another thought was to romp down Rt2 or up Rt91 to Yankee Candle Car Museum but it seems to have closed to make way for a furniture store. Anyone have any special thoughts or meet ideas.....

One more curiosity is the Nordic Lodge in Charlestown RI, www.nordic-lodge.com (their website appears to be down for the moment), ahich is a premium buffet. It is on the pricey side at $50-$60 per person but it is all you can eat lobster, steak, shrip cocktails..... But there is also that all you can eat chicken farm which is much cheaper IIRC.

I agree, a nice leaf peeping cruise with some dinner afterwards sounds like a great idea.
We need some people who live in the sticks or know of good areas to go to.
The traditional wachusett drive is appealing, but something different would definitely be more fun.
I'm gonna ask around to see about some good areas we can hit.

I know there was a thread not too long ago where VT was mentioned as an option in Pete's area (PT95LS), but I can't find it.
he had a meet last year at his place right around the '02 Wachusett meet:

I heard about ti today on the radio so now I have it in my head that I want to take a tour of the Red Hook brewery in NH.

Oh, BTW, since I changed jobs and have been spending alot more time with my friends I have turned into a boozer. Or as some of you would call it, "a boozah"

I was thinking the same. It's one week earlier than what has been done in the past, but I still think it's a good idea.

red hook is in Portsmouth right?
I'm trying to think if there's any good leaf peeping around there.
There's also the budweiser plant tour, which I've always wanted to do with you folks.
Beer plant tours don't take up too much time, so we'd have to decide on other stuff to do before/afterward.

And Jay, I'm glad to see you've finally come around. The first step is admitting....

Like Kim said, I believe there was interest in a VT fall meet, and I'd be up for that. Some really nice roads out there!! Let me list a few in no particular order.

1. VT Meet with the CEG guys up there.

2. Red Hook Brewery tour (Postsmouth, NH) / NH Seacoast cruise. Maine coast a possiblility to, (ie York Beach).

3. Budwieser Brewery tour (Merrimack, NH) / Merrimack has a criuse night on Friday nights. Good little ice cream place there, and some decent roads to rip thru. I grew up there so I know the roads pretty well and my parents know the chief of police.

4. Wachusette applefest.

5. Lakes / Mountian region cruise like we did way back in the fall of 2000 with pappy Dick, Dougie, BOS SVT, skunk I think, and believe it or not migalush from NJ came!! It was fun but it was rainy. We went up to NHIS, Wiers Beach, and around the lake.

6. CT area cruise, and or Newport RI cruise.

I missed that Lakes cruise, I think mostly because I wussed out on the weather. Sounds like fun plans here. I'm committed the weekend of the 11th/12th - playing golf in the state four ball championship. Play without me if you have to.

I'd be up for a coastal cruise, we haven't done one of those yet. Maine is really nice. we could go from york up to kennybunk and they nice places to eat also.

I like these two. No guarantees I'll be able to go though
