Fall is fast approaching...and so is the annual fall meet. Over the past few years we have met in the woods and played thru the leaves to Mt. Wachusett. It appears there will be two Applefest weekends this year, October 18-19 (Octoberfest) and October 25-26 (Countryfest). We could continue the tradition this year or we could shoot for something else. One thought was to modify the day slightly by adding in a restaurant at the end of the day. I remember last years meet was pretty cold....cough....Elky....which reduced the enthusiasm for outdoor activity. But on the other hand I enjoy the conversations that spring up in our meets that can't quite happen if we spend the whole day driving.
Another thought was to romp down Rt2 or up Rt91 to Yankee Candle Car Museum but it seems to have closed to make way for a furniture store. Anyone have any special thoughts or meet ideas.....
One more curiosity is the Nordic Lodge in Charlestown RI,
www.nordic-lodge.com (their website appears to be down for the moment), ahich is a premium buffet. It is on the pricey side at $50-$60 per person but it is all you can eat lobster, steak, shrip cocktails..... But there is also that all you can eat chicken farm which is much cheaper IIRC.
