god dammit. i got my infinity perfect 12.1 about 3 weeks ago. since then i've been driving it with a 360 watt PPI amp. I dont push it that hard, the gains not very high, and the crossovers are set perfectly. well the other day i jump in my car, and theres no bass.
today i go nuts, tested it with 2 different amps. pulled it out of the box and re-tested. no sound at all! dont blown speakers still make some sort of noise?!!? this sub doesnt do anything...

all the wiring seems intact... not sure though, you cant see very much of it before it goes deep inside the sub..

Is the amp ON? Can you grab a receiver or something from your hosue and hook it up JUST to see if sound comes out? If it doesn't, could be wiring lose on the sub, or the sub could be dead..

take the sub out and test it. If you have a terminal cup, sometimes those can melt etc. Mine did and the sub didn't lose all sound, but it sounded like ASS. I thought it was blown until I tested it with some new speaker wire OUT of thebox.

Here's a really simple test;
Tap on the sub with your fingers.
Does it move freely like it should? Or does it have a little resistance and make scratchy sounds? Or worse, does it not move at all? If it's moving free, but you're getting no sound out of it at all, I'm afraid to say you may have burnt the VC.
Have access to a multimeter? See if you've got continuity across the sub terminals, and what the resistance is if you do. Move the sub with your hand while you have the multimeter set for voltage across the terminals and see if you get anything.

Does the subwoofer box have a terminal cup on it? Take the sub out and make sure all the wires are still connected. A blown sub normally still makes some noise.

yup i took the sub out of the box and tested it that way -- no sound. when i push on the sub, it moves. when i push it about 3/4 of an inch in, there is a scratchy noise. dammit. i wonder if i'd have any luck with the warranty -- i've heard infinity is pretty generous about that kind of stuff...
shouldnt a blown sub make some kind of noise though... agh what do i do

If you hear a scratching sound when you push it in then its probably blown...When I had blown one of my subs, I actually couldn't push it in at all..I can't remember if any noise was still commming out of it though. If I turned it up real loud I would hear a loud popping sound though. My guess is that its a blown sub.
