Yeah, what Dave said

~ $115 for one Shiva or Dayton DVC.
~ $30 materials
as little as $80 for an amp

You'll introduce so many squeaks and rattle in your Contour. At least you won't be able to hear them.

Ack, sorry to make you so nervous. I just don't like seeing fellow audio enthusiasts get bum equipment =\ I lurk on quite a few audio forums, and I really have not heard a lot good about Audiobahn. They aren't pyramid or kraco, but they just don't do what they say they do. If you keep that in mind, you will be ok with them. Just don't expect them to handle ANY more watts (or even the RMS) than they say they can, nor expect the amplifiers to be "under-rated" like a lot of companies are doing. I believe they do what a few other cheaper brands do and they take actual heat into account when judging power.

I think if you look at IASCA events over the last couple of years, Audiobahn subs have been used in cars that have one at least 5 to 10 first place trophies for SQ and SPL. Granted, they may be a small percentage overall, but I have heard no quality complaints about the speakers. Especially, when compared to speakers within their price range.

Keep in mind that Audiobahn's subwoofer price range goes from under 100.00 to almost 4000.00 for their 34" woofer.

Good point. Most of the bad things I have heard have mainly been about their subs, and the oens that cost around 150. People put to uch juice to them and they die quickly.

Fellas, I really appreciate your help on this topic. You are both incredibly helpful. I feel completely out of the car audio loop, so your ideas are invaluable. I am going to check out those sites after I post this. I have heard good things about Shiva subs.

I have from Audibahn two amps, crossover,
(2)5 1/4in components and a 12" sub in a bandpass box.. the good: amps and crossover are great, the woofer on the 5 1/4 is as well.. the bad: tweets blew by the end of the first month, since been replaced by MbQuarts, the sub which was there lower end sub (i was on a buget) sounded good, but not great.. have upped it to a Vega (which was free) for now until I can get a better Audiobahn sub.. I have heard there higher end stuff and it is impressive.. check out there website for the 2001 line up..
