The reason i like the sony was beacuse it looks "clean" the kenwoods are to "busy" and my 6009 hates to play cdrs at times. I oqwuld love a NAK but no cd text. Alpines are also Busy.
I never owned a pioneer but wil have to take a look at them all. Stupid HU, so many to choose from.

Congrats! Did you end up using a bypass harness or just patching wires? Also, do your door speakers have better bass response?

i am not trying to start a fued here or anyting but i am saying that NEW line of sony's are not good. the older line is better because the the new Explode line sony has cheaped the quality and we did see tons come in from best buy the sucked. granted some cd players will work better even if they are the same model due to defects or whatever, but most NEW! sony's (except for es and the active black panel suck). if your sony still works then good for you, you got a good one. also if you look at sony power it says 50x4 MAX when really rms is around 17x4 and pioneer is around 19x4 rms -chris

I know you're not trying to start a fued. I think people are pointing out that if there are as many being returned as you say, it could be a fluke in your area, or a bad mfg run. A good way to see how many are being returned is to see how many Refurb HU are available. A great source for this is Ubid. You'll notice certain HU that always are for sale and always in refurb condition rather than new. I know quite a few people who sell Sony equipment who would argue vehemently about the new sony line being crap, who think that Pioneer are crap. It's all based on personal experience and if your experience shows that a lot of sonys are being returned i understand your comments. My experience is that I've never heard any complaints from people who own them. Was you point about the power that the pioneer is better or that most companies try to decieve the public by using standards that make them look better? Just hoping that you aren't going to tell me that you can hear a difference between 17 and 19 watts. Regards, Dave

I bought a HU install harness kit form a casr stereo joint. The amp bypass cable was ok for one ploug, but as you know the 2000's need the FD15, which it doesn't come with, so I took the harness it came with, cut off the plug that was no good (right up near the plug) took the other harness that is for conecting the HU to the stock speaker wires (that grey cavble in the dash) and cut the wires of that and soldered them between the HU harness and the Metra harness I modified. This basically allowed me to to hook up the HU directly to the speaker (via the output plug that is origianlly connected to the stock amp). Phew, did you understand that? I am now a mediocre car stereo install, this was my second install. BTW Aaron, I got the Ultimate ported sub today and the install kit for the amp and sub. The amp is on it's way. No I just have to hook up all those wires (RCA's, POWER, and amp switching wires). The sub looks well made, didn't really pull it out of the box though as the boss would not havee been impressed if I was screwing around with that in front of him. ------------------ Regards, Anastazi sarigia@aam.com "Computer games don't affect kids. [/B] It's really sad, but I understood every word. Congrats on the install. Yes, you can run all the wires now before tha amp comes. Remember to run the power down one side of the car (drivers easier) and the RCA cable (from pre-out on deck to amp in trunk) down the other side to minimize interference. Let me know if you want any help this weekend.
