Not meaning to go off on a rant here, but it's your melon, shouldn't you want to pay a little more for peace of mind just in case? I went for an Arai after reading all of the reviews online, and I definitely prefer having the Snell badge on it rather than just the DOT.

Just my $0.02

Paying more, past a certain point, doesn't get you more protection. It gets you nicer lining material, better venting, higher quality paint, etc. It may get you better fit, but I've also found that every head is different.

Also, a Snell rated helmet that's on half-price closeout because it's last-year's model should be just as good as the full-price one next to it on the shelf.
