Try the Kenwood eXcelon X817 if you're going for under $500. It's $469 on crutchfield.com X817 Damn, not picture on their site yet. The HU looks awesome in the catalog, and the eXcelon series has yet to disappoint me!

I have a Clarion Pro Audio DRX8675z CD reciever. I absolutly love it. I'ts the best sounding unit that I have ever owned and Ive had Sony's, Kenwoods, and Alpine's. I't has so many different features that I am still finding out new things. The RMS rating is pretty low but this is definatly a conservative rating. You can find it at: www.discountcarstereo.com/Clarion/drx8675z.htm oh...it looks awesome in the dash too. ------------------ 2000 SE Sport Toredore Red, MTX Clarion Pro Audio CD H.U. [This message has been edited by hyperactiveme (edited March 21, 2001).] That's what my cdx-m600 looks like with the face up... that's why I bought it. You also get a remote control with it... nice touch I think, keep your eyes on the road and all.

It's actually probably accurate, it's more likely that other companies are slightly over rating their products. My guess is that 90% of us, probably more, would not be able to hear the difference between 15 watts and 25 watts of similar quality amplification.

I really like the sound quality of my Eclipse. It outshines all other HU's I've tried (Panasonic, Sony, Yamaha) Plus the eclipse matches well with the interior.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P7200 and it plays CD-R's and you can even title the discs on your computer while creating a cd and it will show on the display. Better yet, you should get the DEH-P7300, it has the same features except a different animated display and it is XM(satellite) radio compatible.
