APT CSVT: unfortunitly I have a 97 contour, so my back seats don't fold down. But I see what you're getting at.

"You might be happy enough replacing your door speakers with the a Vifa component set which is a huge improvement over stock doors."

Do you have any idea how much it would cost to replace the doors with this Vifa component set you're talking about? I really don't want to spend more then $1,500.

The Vifas are 130.00 at madisound but selling fast. Only a few pairs left from what I've heard.

www.madisound.com check the on sale link.

Illusion,

With $1500 you could replace the whole system! If you have $130 for trial, go for 1 set of the Vifa's at Dave's link. I am sure you will be impressed with the sound quality. If that's just barely not enough bass, buy another set for the rear. Otherwise, you'll probably want to investigate a new subwoofer with a powerfull amp that could overcome the back seat problem.

Thanks for that info. I've already upgraded all the speakers in my car. I've already invested about $2,500 into my system. I have some very powerfull subs (peak at 1,000 watts), I think I just need to get them some more power. The main thing is I want to eliminate all the rattling in my car, especially in the trunk area.

As for the front door speakers I currently have a dbs component system in there but I'm thinking about upgrade the front doors to some Focals and putting the dbs in the back doors (back doors currently have some polk's). I also want to get a new cd deck, I'm thinking about the Clarion DRX9675z.

But I've been thinking I need to get some body work done as well. So I might make that #1 priority instead of the audio.

You can forget about getting the trunk to stop rattling, once you do the lid, then it's the rear bumper, then the flaps, then...
I totally gave up on the rattling issue, I figured if it sounds good inside, who cares about the outside...dealing with a lot of power and multiple woofers, theres not much you can do. Soundproofing will only add extra weight to the already heavy box in your trunk. The biggest problems I faced were the rear bumper and spoiler believe it or not. I wasn't about to coat the bumper, only to have it sag or fall off from the weight. I have a sealed box, speakers facing front, totally sealed off from the trunk. No noise on the inside, a lot of noise on the outside!

Well Illusion,

I'm sure your components are plenty good. There is only so much bass you can get out of a 6.5" speaker. Maybe it's time to replace your sub and/or amp. One of these subs in about a 3cu ft box with a 300w amp will only create new rattles, but you'll won't hear them anyway .

If you are looking for some subs that will have tremendous SPL with very good SQ, look into the MASS from Audiomobile. www.audiomobileinc.com

I have ONE 12 getting about 750 RMS right now, and it is UNBELIEVABLY loud. Everyone thinks I have at least 2 subs in my trunk. I have it faced backwards in about a 1.0 cubic foot sealed box. I am thinking about porting it as you can get even more SPL that way. The sub has the longest X-Max for ANY 12 (or 10 for that matter, as their 10 has won numerous awards) available today.

That isn't quite true, but they are difficult to beat for the price.
