Has anyone here purchased stereo equip. from a flea market. I bought a sony xplod es from fry's and I go to this flea market with my brother and he tells me I could have gotten more for the money I spent on my HU from fry's.We go and I found my stereo for 159.99 new and a refurbished for 129.99. He also had the new kicker solobarics the square ones he wanted 130.00 for one 12". I thought this was pretty damn good. I ended up buying a pioneer premier 6.5" component set for 99.99. I am going back next friday for the sub and a punch amp. to push it.What are your thoughts on these places. According to my brother this place has been at the same location for three years. The guy there told me he offered the factory warranty only, and if I had a problem with the components he would give me a new set and send the other ones to the manufacture. I was warry of the place but he seemed honest my brother told me he blew a ppi amp and took it back and the guy exchanged it for him and he already had it for 9 months. Please post your comments I need to know if there is some kind of catch to all of this it seemed unreal to me.

I've bought stuff from flea markets with varying degrees of success, it's a risk but it can work out well.

So I guess if it has the 1 year warranty which is typical and I can take it back to him for exchange instead of sending it myself then everything should be fine. I guess come next saturday I will be booming to the sounds of that square solobaric kicker. He sells kicker amps also I think im going to get one of those instead so it will match the sub.Any suggestions on a kicker amp?

I haven't heard much about the square subs but what i have heard has been mixed. I don't think you could go wrong with Kicker amps, they are expensive but bulletproof. I don't know which model number to recommend but look for something to match the wattage of the driver.

btw, amps and speakers aren't generally made to work better with certain brands except in the case of stock systems like Bose, Infinity, and JBL, which custom make their amps/speakers to work in that particular application.

Flea markets are like Ebay - Cavet Emptor!
Although I have gotten very good deals from both, I've also been burned. Most of my experience has been good, though.
As far as the warranties are concerned, make sure the seller is an authorized dealer for the brand equipment you're buying. Otherwise, you may end up with, at worst, no manufacturers warranty at all or at best, a 90 day warranty. Individual companies handle these situations differently.

This guy is pretty legit as long as you keep your receipt he will exchange it for the life of the manufactures warranty. If he does not have the same item in stock he will have to send the item you purchased to the manufacture for warranty replacement or repair.

I would never buy from a Flea market. Guys, UBID.com sells / auctions stuff off for next to nothing. Sometimes it's bid OVER what the retail / online selling price is for, but you use your head and you can get deals.
I purchase a few NEW XTReme Orion amps for like half what they cost at a local Orion dealer (with 90 day warranties), some Orion XTRpro subs for about half the price, and all my interconnects for CHEAP.

I had such good success buying my amps and subs from them for my car, that I bit the bullet and bought some Home Theatre equipment (A Denon Reciever and Harman-Kardon speakers) and an AMD Athlon 900

and I got mucho percentage off.......

So before you buy from the guy in the trenchcoat, and/or EBAY, go take a look at ubid.....I haven't really had a bad experience.

I also research my purchases extensively with places such as www.consumerreview.com before I grab audio stuff, and alot of the time it's someone who has bought on UBID reviewing the item I am interested in.
It just doesn't get better than that.........

Good Luck and Good Auctions!
