A PERFECT example of poor writing skills immediately effecting the opinion of said writer. How can you expect someone to have a conversation with you on a very complex subject when you post such dribble?
Try putting a little thought into your opinion; see gwellington or JaTo for excellent examples.
Moore *is* a jerk; and while wishing him to die for his opinion is a little rough, a skit (like on Saturday Night Live) involving him at the wheel of a GM car run off the road by a gun wielding wacko has potential!

Wow... i've never seen that...that's absolutely ridiculous!! I thought it was well made movie (while overlooking the fact that I disagreed with almost every single statement made there). But now I think differently!!

Remember it's the Internet, and those sites have a certain political point of view that they're pushing. Accept their content with a degree of skepticism until you can ferret out the facts.

Even though Michael Moore would like to pass himself off as a social commentator of some standing, he's nothing more than an entertainer. This is especially apparent after "Bowling for Columbine" and his childish and rather idiotic rant at the Academy Awards. He's good at making "mocumentaries", which hold about as much fact and reality as "Joe Millionaire" did...
As Moore is so concerned about removing ammo from the shelves of certain stores, suing the gun industry and generally creating havoc everywhere he can on this subject, I suggest he get some perspective and cover 9/11, where the largest mass-murder on American soil took place without a single bullet being fired...
...but then given his mind-set, he'd probably come to the conclusion to ban commercial flights, sue the airline industry and talk about the oppression that capitalism has thrust upon those innocent and put-upon Islamic militants.
In short, if it doesn't reflect the so-called "reality" that he belives in, he most certainly will distort things to make them appear to do as such...
I enjoy his works as much as I enjoy watching the Simpsons every now and them. Since I don't put much political or social belief behind what is shown on the Simpsons, the same applies with anything that Moore puts on celluloid.

I don't think, or I don't hope, people thought the premise of the movie was that guns are bad, blah, blah, blah. It's a right we have, you can't take that away. We also can own fast cars and drive them insanely fast, that kills a LOT more people than the 11,000+ people that die from gun violence every year. . .
WHY do we have a higher rate than like France or UK, with like a measely 30-60 deaths/yr from guns?
This is the premise of Moore's argument, in case those that saw it didn't get it: Americans live in FEAR. It's the media that perpetuates this fear, and we react by: (1) Buying bigger, "safer" SUVs (2) Buying guns (3) Buying gas masks (4) Buying condoms (5) Buying tasers Now, I freely indulge in all of the latter save for #2, #3, and #5 (BTW, that was a sardonic list of stupid things we americans indulge, by no means representative of the whole). Point is, we need to eliminate the media because THEY promote fear in us all. . .
I don't own a gun in the great state of TX because when I was going to get one, this past March when my house was bruglarized and $50k+ worth of stuff was stolen including my 4Runner, everybody on CEG said to calm down and look for alternatives. I've since become a Kung Fu Master. ok, that was a test to see if you're still reading.
I didn't get a gun to "defend" my apartment because, like everyone here on CEG said, I'd probably shoot myself or get shot if I walked in on a burglar. So, these social misfits that freakin' shot everyone (that part of the movie was freaky to watch, how deliberate their murderous actions were), it's not the guns, it's EVERYTHING. It's the teenagers that are "in and cool" that flow with what the MEDIA thinks is cool and current, isolating other groups, the "outs", perpetuating teenage angst and mistrust leading to ANGER, and FRUSTRATION. It's our society, not the guns. It's everything that makes us american. The only way it'll change is, well, if the fear factor is taken away. . .then we'll all calm down, so pass me da joint and let this argument continue. . . :~i

Guns are both good and bad. Gun accidents and criminals with guns kill people. Guns discourage criminals because they know that they might get shot. That gives criminals an incentive to leave people alone.
The problem with the kids at Colombine is they saw guns and violence as the solution to everything.
