I'm having difficulties finding a leak. I'm getting a puddle of coolant on the floor just inside the passenger side front tire. The only wetness I see is under the metal tube going to the heater core that runs across the bottom front of the engine (just under the crank pulley). I suppose it could be a pinhole leak in the tube, but I'm losing quite a bit of coolant. What would I see if the water pump was leaking? I don't see any staining that would indicate coolant dripping from the pump, but since it's buried, I'd assume I wouldn't see much anyway. Any hints?

Well, I found a clean path coming out of the front cover just below the crank pulley. Looks like the water pump is leaking. So, I need a water pump, timing belt, whatever pullies are under the front cover, and a tensioner...correct? If there is anything else, could someone add it to the list here? I'll order the parts Tuesday and hopefully get this thing sealed up in the next week or two.

On another note, the condensed water from the AC is dripping insode the car. I smeared a bunch of silicone around the gasket and housing hoping to seal it off. It looks lke a MAJOR job to do it the right way, i.e. pull it apart and replace the leaking gaskets/housing. My only concern is that it will leak under the insulation/carpeting that is passes through on it's way out of the car. Time will tell...

Could Ford make a harder car to work on?

I have a leak that I think is the heater core hoses. It is on the Zetec. It is coming out towards teh rear but it seems to be getting worse and I have double clamped up the hoses with little results. Any good way to tell if your water pump is leaking?

I have been driving for a month

The leak started after having the dealer do a coolant flush.
Guess I should go back and complain.

My water pump was leaking and the real only tell tale sign was that the car started to run hotter than normal and when I got the pump off you could hear the bearings when I spun it freely.But if the bearings are fine it could also be the gasket mine was drier and more cracked than a 70 year old woman

Took it back today

They pressure tested it and claim it is the hoses and not the water pump.

Apparently there is a $200 hose that they want to replace that goes to teh heater core. What teh heck a $200 dollar hose? What is that

ANy one know what kind of coolant hose could be worth $200?

Any suggestions on getting it in the aftermarket suppliers? Noone can identify this hose in their parts list.
