i think so as well. the rims weigh about 18 pounds/rim and the tires are 22 pounds/tire. way too much grip for my car too. i dont have the whole too much power/not enough traction issue.
i think russel who has one of the fastest atx times said recently that his new tires hurt his times, and his best time of 16.3 is on bald tires. i may have to start checking out the junk yards for some 14 inch tempo rims and "home made slicks" 185/75/r14....
