OP advocate_dup1 CEG\'er A Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 468 Edmonton, Canada	Went to the track to see how my car faired against last year. last year i bested 17.32 @ 79.61 mph. i know its slow but its an atx this year my best run was 17.24 @ 81.38 mph. was a little happier but nowhere near my 16.9(or better) goal for this car at this elevation. by leaving it in drive it shifts into 3rd gear maybe 15-20 feet before the 1/4, by using drive for all of first then shifting to 2nd i can hold it to the 1/4 without hitting my 6950rpm limiter but it comes close. heres the timeslip: r/t.... .231 60'.... 2.573 330'... 7.347 1/8.... 11.210 mph.... 64.30 1000'.. 14.484 1/4.... 17.244 mph.... 81.38 for comparisons sake heres some other times that night: 2003 civic sir (mtx) 17.07 @ 80 2000 dakota 4.7L 17.1 @ 78 2001 Lightning 13.88 2000+ cougar (mtx) 16.5 @ 86 mazdaspeed protege 15.4 jetta 1.8T 15.4 2002 Corvette (mtx) 13.56 @ 107 1997 civic (B18a) 15.43 @ 89 with slicks porshe 944 17.xx 1991 Talon (fwd) 17.32 @ 80.18 2000 dakota rt 15.4 @ 89 would be nice to have a turbo up here, seems for good times around here its either displacement or forced induction. Best SVT Contour time ive seen here is 16.4. maybe next time ill put on my stock wheels and by then hopefully have a custom burned chip. i have a superchip now but my car seems to run harder with it out. the difference it makes with shifting kind of cancels that out tho. 2005 Focus ST

OP advocate_dup1 CEG\'er A Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 468 Edmonton, Canada	i think so as well. the rims weigh about 18 pounds/rim and the tires are 22 pounds/tire. way too much grip for my car too. i dont have the whole too much power/not enough traction issue. i think russel who has one of the fastest atx times said recently that his new tires hurt his times, and his best time of 16.3 is on bald tires. i may have to start checking out the junk yards for some 14 inch tempo rims and "home made slicks" 185/75/r14.... 2005 Focus ST
