My driver window won't go up! I have electric windows and when you press the switch to go up nothing happens and you can hear a clicking sound coming from the relay in the door. I can reach the cable that runs up and down the guide and the tension on it never changes too. All of my documentation says that to get to everything you must first raise the window. If you put your hands in the door and try to manually lift the window it won't budge. It will till slightly from one side to the other wihich would tell me that the window isn't jammed. Could the window mount be jammed on the guide of the regulator? I also noticed the the top cable of the regulator is seperated where it goes into the motor housing but the spring and inner cable seem to still be connected. Any suggestions? Thanks!

i bought a new window regulator(it comes with the small motor attached to it) from the ford dealer, cost about
$120.00 bought the Haynes book and it shows you how to remove the inside of the door and the window glass to replace the window regulator... i tried to fix the broken cable inside the window regulator, i have a small metal cutting lathe and can make most parts,, but on this i just gave up and bought the new window regulator.... did not take long to fix it....
hope this helps.

My passenger side did the same thing Tuesday and I too tried to fix the cable that pulls it up and down. Unfortunately, the cable had worn down the inside of the cup that holds it on the pulley.
I re-assembled it and it would go up and down, but it was making the crackling noise meaning that the cable was twisting and tearing up the plastic again. I'm just leaving the window up until I can go buy the $120.00 regulator assembly.

The sad part is that my AC compressor is out and the 4/80 was nice! Thank goodness I assembled it before the rain starts tomorrow!
