I think he was talking about the roads on the way to skyline drive not when you are on skyline drive itself. I know the roads I take to get there are not 70 mph roads but I will be coming from the other direction from most of you guys I think so I dont know about the roads you would be taking to get there. (I would be going thru charles town, WV to get there)
To clear things up. Yes I was talking about the roads on the way to Skyline specifically Rt. 66 and 81. The speed limit is 70 mph on them. And I have never run into traffic on either route. And as for me saying that Cooter's is closer, it is relatively speaking. If you take into account that Cooter's is a one way trip and the ENTRANCE to Skyline is not that much further than Cooter's, BUT you have 105 miles of road (one way) to traverse after entering the park. Top speed on the mountain is only 25-30 mph max in certain areas, not to mention stopping for the photo ops. So it will take a lot longer to do than just going to Cooter's.
