Still haven't figured out the intermittant miss, but I have a new area of the car to deal with! WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
My passenger side front door window mechanism went bersek! I have pulled it all out and figured-out what happened. My question is: does Ford sell the mechanism MINUS THE ELCTRIC MOTOR? They want $120.00 for the whole assembly, but I really only need the parts minus the electric motor.
I am attempting to repair it without buying any new parts.
For some reason the braided wire jammed-up on the spool that the motor winds to raise and lower the window. The wire was all twisted and was jamming-up against the plastic shell. This is all in the black plastic part that attatches to the motor. The wire had also jumped out of the roller guide at the top of the mechanism. I may have been responsible for that because I had to yank it up to close it since it started raining!
I have cut off the bad ends and have them back in the pulley although I can't find the lead pieces that they use to hold the ends of the braided wire on the pulley. I have used some J B Weld and it seems pretty secure. I will put it all back tomorrow and see if it holds.
A smart person would buy the new mechanism, but $3.99 for the J B Weld is cheaper than $120.00!!!!!
