For the most part a 98 SE only had rear disc brakes if it was equipped with a manual transmission. There has been some speculation that there may have been a very few very early 98 SE automatics built with rear disc brakes, but I am not aware of this being confirmed. What is the build date on yours? If there were any, it was probably only for a month or two of production. I think production for the 98 Contour started in 2/97. My SVT was built in 4/97.
