Thanks for the info. I knew about these mp3 players a while back but i never really trusted the sellers back then. Maybe now it may be safer, especially since the transaction will most likely be made over the net.

Regards,

Eric

Holy Sh1tballs!!

I just checked out that Neo website... I want one, but I don't know that I'd be willing to sacrifice the space for that unit... it's a fortune! While I can understand wanting to put a whole lotta mp3s in the box, I can't justify spending that kind of money for a HU that will a)require a new amp to power the speakers! b)will not play AM radio (it's news and traffic and weather in Toronto!)

I would be just as happy waiting for the new line of CD/Mp3 decks to come out which will have all the features of mid-top line units, plus play mp3s. If I have to carry my 20 or 30 favourite albums on 5 CDs, it's still better than 30 cds!!

Eric, if you still want an LCD for a homebrew project, I have one available. It's a 40x4 character LCD from EIO . I've already soldered a header and the necessary resistors and connected it to a parallel portt. All you need to do is hook it up to your printer port with a parallel cable and you're set. There are several WinAmp plugins out there that program it just fine (I can give you several sites).

I'll sell the LCD+parallel port assembly for $25; it costs that much for the LCD alone, I've done all the work already. I also have a shielded 25-ft male-male printer cable available, I'll throw that in for another $10 (it's brand new). Let me know if you're interested, email me at "louisw at mail.utexas.edu"

I have the Aiwa MP3 player deck unit. It works well for the most part. I'm waiting for them to come out with the mp3 changer. And really, there is no need for a changer. I can fit about 14 albums worth of mp3s on one CD-R.

The only thing I don't like about it is the remote. It doesn't work very well...but I normally keep my right hand on the shifter...so not a big problem.
