Sounds like they are all Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) codes. CD4E uses an electronic torque converter for lock-up, not a fluid one as most other transmissions. And, as luck goes, an electronic clutch is more likely to fail than a hydraulic one. I am surprised that all these codes are all being set at once. It could be that the TCC is really in bad shape. I suppose it's possible that the pump failed and that took out the clutch. It's hard to figure out as I'm no trans expert.
As far as getting your oil changed every 3K miles, that is most likely the engine oil, not the transmission oil. The transmission oil is in a separate system. Have you had you trans oil changed before? I'm not sure what the actual recommended mileage is, check you owner's manual, but it's most likely around every 30K miles.
My 'tour sets a p0741 code occasionally, which will cause hard shifts. After the pressure drops down (usually within 1 day) all returns to normal. I have experienced this since I owned the car and I have had no real problems due to it. I am faithful to have the trans oil changed however.
I guess I would take the vehicle to another shop and get a second opinion.

There are a few tests that can be done to isolate your problem before ripping out the tranny. I say this all the time but, you have to find a shop that actually repairs and rebuilds transmission on site. Most places just rip out your old one and replace it, usually charging around $2400. Not a bad haul considering a rebuilt CD4E can be had for around $900.
Anyway, find a shop and have them check the line pressure with the solenoid connecter on and with it off. If they get over 250 PSI with the connector off then your pump is OK. They should also check the pressure in all the gears as well.
Your description sounds like a bad pump and damaged clutches and you will likely need a rebuild. A fair price is about $1600.
Good luck jeff
have you fixed your ford lately?

Just before I drove to Los Alamos from Seattle (Feb. 2002) I had a complete maintenance done at the Ford dealers, including transmission fluid change. I've put about 10k miles on the car since then. I'm having it towed tomorrow to a Ford dealer in Santa Fe that I've heard is quite good. Since this morning I've heard from some co-workers about very bad transmission repair experiences at the garage in Los Alamos where my car is now, so definitely a second opinion is worth a $70 tow charge!

$70 tow charge! here in the tristate area nyctnj hook up is 85 bucks. it cost me $180 to get my car toed at 3.50 per mile from nj back to ny after a newly installed drive axle failed causing a vibration and causing some atx fluid to leak from where it is connected to the differential!!

This last May I spent $2400 for AAMCO to rebuild my tranny. It was shifting very hard and the Overdrive light kept flashing. It went out again at the end of July! The manager of AAMCO said that they put the CD4E tranny in alot of vehicles and that when it gets rebuilt they still have problems with it. My went out the second time a day after my cooling fans went. Not sure it that caused it though. I never let it get overheated but still! I think that a brand new unit from Ford is about $2800. Like everyone else says: Check around!
Good luck!

Doing Mainteneance every 3000 miles is just changing Motor oil and lubricating joints. For the $20 - $30 you pay, it doens't even include pulling the dipstick on the ATX. I know it sounds sad, but it is the truth. Garages tend to play on our own ignorance, and what we don't know is where they make up money.
If you have been going to this garage that often they could afford to give you a better price on a tranny rebuild, or LOSE YOU AS A CUSTOMER.
The CD4E tranny requires maintenance at the minimum of every 15,000 miles. If this was never done, then according to your symptoms, I'd say you're due for a tranny rebuild. If you can't see putting this much money into your Tour, then you might want to look towards putting the money into a used Tour with low mileage.

Hi RoadRunner:
Good to see the old timers are still around! I remember your moniker from when I used to log in to contour.org back in Seattle in '98. Sigh...back when I was planning to upgrade to a new V-6 contour before they dumped the model to make the icky econo-box Focus!
The Ford dealer in Santa Fe says I definitely need a new tranny, so there goes $2600 (he gave me a deal). Only good news is that I also get a 36mo or 36k warranty on the replacement tranny, which I wouldn't have got from any garage here in Los Alamos. And I have heard good things about the Santa Fe Ford repair service from friends and co-workers, so I'll cross my fingers.
Thanks everyone for all the advice!

Well Karin,
Welcome to the Contour.org Transaxle Forum.
I'm trying to keep the Transaxle Forum a place to have fun, and learn about the weakest link in our vehicles.
Just come back and let us know how your Contour is after the major surgery !
When I got mine back both times, it was good. I had minimal complaints. The first time the dealership had the Contour for almost a month, while the second time it was only for 10 days.
Go figure.
Good luck to you !
