On the track the supercharger isn't far inferior. I mean a couple tenths and a couple mph isn't that much. The turbo will make more power for the same boost and have better bottom end, but traction is still an issue.
Off the track is where the turbo is much better (real life). The supercharger is not a weak mod, though. It will make a lot more power than stock.
