Have you thought about a 2001 Maxima? Lotsa room inside, SE will get you good handling, good quality, and more panache than a Ford offering.

Another car to consider. I just purchased a BMW 535i for my winter/mileage car. For $15,000..you could pick up a nice 95-98 528i with low (BMW low) miles. There are several discount houses that offer parts prices right in line with what I pay now for Ford parts. The 6 is sooo smooth, and the ride is a lot better than a lot of other more expensive cars.
