Is that a bad thing? I think Audi's are the cleanest looking cars out there, interior and exterior.

I like the clean slab-sided looks of the car. Much better looking than say a Caddy CTS. Now, if only they offered an S40-R with the engine out of the S60-R...

Number 1 the car does not look Audiish to me since this design came out before Audi redesign since the only difference I can tell since the begining of the car is slightly different headlights. Number two, does it have a 5 speed yet dammit! That is the main reason I have not bought one yet becuase the last generation only came with a slushbox! I like Volvos! I miss my old 245 Turbo wagon! Talk about a sleeper.
My Zetec died one too many times so I got a new car.

i really like the looks. we looked at those before we bought the G20t, but the infinti dealer was more willing to deal, so we went with it instead. also, the S40 auto tranny of a few generations ago was HORRID! not sporty feeling at all. the G20t's trans is much better.
but both cars still need a 5 speed manual...

To me it is a very bad thing. VW/Audi's are cars lacking style. They are dull, often mismatch pieces, and do not make a statement. The interiors are dull, unstylish, and lack a feel of being in something special. Again, yawn fest.
The Volvo pictured is worse: Hideously ugly outside, with a bland a poorly executed inside (that center stack has poor ergonomics).

More News on the S40: Quote:
Claimed to be "all new" underneath the skin, the '04 iteration will, among other things, gain an optional pair of drive wheels and a couple of extra gearbox ratios at the top end of its specification. Thus equipped - sporting a six-speed manual transmission, all-wheel-drive, and 220hp 5-banger with the wick turned up on its turbo, the new model in T5 specification makes an altogether more compelling case for itself than its predecessor. That said, T5 or no, the S40 will remain down a cylinder and a bit short of grunt to several of its prime competitors (the Accord, for example, has a 240hp V6), but then again, most lack its available awd.
Lets see, 220hp Turbo IL5, AWD and 6-Speed Manual? I LIKE!!!
