wouldnt suggest doing unless you were mechanically inclined, about 250-300 bucks in parts.
I have the same problem..Everytime that it begins to happen, just turn the car off and wait 5-10 seconds and then start it back up. It will be fine again to go!
Taking from my experience and being backed up by Mercman, I will add to this a little...
If you were to continue driving the car under these conditions, for an extended period (I had to go almost 4 months before getting the money to get mine fixed), you will first crack the forward drum, followed by the forward sprag. The cracking of the drum will destroy your Forward and Direct clutch packs. The failure of the forward sprag will be followed by the GEARS!!! ~shiver~
Logan, If you can perform the repairs yourself soon, you will save yourself a ton of money. I couldn't, so I had to spend a little over $2000 to repair mine.
The vavle body can be removed without pulling the tranny, but to get to the TC you can easly pull the engine to gain access to that.
Any other questions, you can of course give a holla!!
P.S. Just be glad that your TC did not lock in the "On" position. It would not stay cranked in that case. Now that would be a real bummer. Good Luck
