I hate using the AC as it is because it surges rediculously (when driving in traffic and especially in parking lots in first gear) but I would really like to have it for the defroster and hot days on longer trips. Has anyone had this problem also? To me it doesnt seem like it needs to be recharged because it worked perfectly up until it wouldnt turn on. I just dont want to go to a mechanic for this one so he can charge me for finding the problem. Thanks Steve
The first thing you need to check is the clutch on the compressor, it should not spin when the A/C is off, and should when someone turns it on. Watch for this while somebody turns it on/off inside the car while you're outside.
