the stock hu is very picky w/cd'rs. it likes certain brands of media burned at certain speeds.
as far as aftermarket goes, there are many head units that play cd'rs: alpine, jvc, pioneer to name a few. if you look at the detailed descriptions of head units at
www.crutchfield.com it will tell you if it plays cdrs.
the best way is to go find a display model at a store, take some of your cdr's and see how well it plays them.
