I pulled the Motorcraft plugs out Sunday, and the #3 and #4 plugs had cracked insulators, it was weird. The dealer said the engine could not crack the insulators, no way. So I'm blaming it on the dealer, or the manufacturer, I did not drop them. But now the car runs perfectly, just like it did before. But then it always runs perfectly with a new set of plugs in, for awhile. The Autolites definitely caused it to miss, and they never had any damage on them, nor any fouling or discoloration. And when I pulled the Motorcrafts, they were a perfect, dark, chocolaty brown color, just like the should be with perfectly clean electrodes, so the engine was not misfiring, the ignition system was, because the plugs were leaking voltage through the cracked insulators. Anyway, if I get another episode of missing I will pull the plugs to see if they're uncracked. If they are, I will have to trace down why, since the dealer said it was impossible for them to crack unless they were defective going in.
