IIRC, if brake fluid is left to sit on a rubber product, yes it can "brake"  the material down. Again, since you got it off pretty quick, I would not worry about.
About the other areas that you might not have been able to get too, just follow the advice of dragonbreath in the other thread and "Take a deep breath!".
