I have 6.5" JL subs in my door with my 6.5 RF mids. They are in a steel bracket that I welded in place of the old bracket. All that is require is a mig welder and some 1/4" metal to cut up. It took me a couple days to get done. The sub pushes out the interior door panel a bit, but otherwise the window won't roll down so I had no choice. I think the only real downside to the door mounted subs is that even at low volume, the seatbelt reels in the B pillar rattle.
