Switching your filter will be a good move.
As for the oil, I am still using regular old Valvoline. I have never used a syn. oil in any of my cars & they have all lasted to near or beyond 200,000. Your 1/2 syn should be great! Considering the mileage you've gotten so far, don't change it & enjoy your car!
I'm beginning to think that I'm too cheap, but then again, near $4 for a quart of motor oil ... hard for me to justify.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

i can't find a deal like that anywhere! i paid 4.99 a quart last time  . good thing pep boys had a coupon for a free oil filter with purchase of a case. i tried everywhere including walmart, which was 4.98 a quart. woo hoo a penny less. it's got to be a CA thing!

I just make my own superior semi sythn. I throw in a couple of litres (from a jug) of Mobil 1 and top off with mobil dino...

Of course Amsoil is THE place to go for unbiased info regarding their product against another.
I am not saying Mobil 1 is better or worse. They certainly are both good but last I checked they didn't stock Amsoil at Walmart in 5 quart jugs for $18.xx.

because it's good stuff not suitable for a family store like walmart  i became a preferred customer, now I can get amsoil for the whole family at %20 off. . .YEAH!

I saw something about the stuff amsoil adds to get some of their numbers could be more detrimental than mobil1. For the price and availability, mobil1 is great.

last time i checked amsoil was nowhere close to the price of mobil 1.

Walmart usually has 5qt bottles for less than $20.00 down here in San Diego. Best price I have found anywhere.
