the b&m comes with a new one. I'm talking about the black plastic thing on the stock shifter that you pull up on when you put it in reverse.

You don't have to cut the reverse lockout plastic piece out. All you have to do is: 1) Remove shift knob 2) Pull up the plastic base at the bottom of your shifter assy until your shift boot is inside out. 3) Cut the plastic tie wrap that has your shift boot secured to the plastic reverse lockout piece then pull the whole shift boot off of it. 4) Pull the reverse lockout plastic piece WITH spring out and replace your shift boot and base assy then knob. This way if for some odd reason you actually want that stupid reverse lockout back on there you can put the piece back and return it to stock. If you do this though I would suggest getting a new boot. When I did mine I couldn't get a tie wrap back on there tight enough to draw the top of the boot down on the shift lever...for my tastes anyway. Plus, if you're going B&M you'll need a shorter shift boot anyway.

well with the gated shifter there is no boot so that makes it even easier. but still, do i have to rig anything to get it into reverse or will it go in like any normal car now?

Once you remove the reverse lockout plastic P.O.S. no you won't have to do anything special to get it in reverse. It will operate like any other stick.
