Well they have decided once again that the ozone levels in Baton Rouge are over the allowable limits so they want to go to reformulated gasoline. Well this change is going to cost us an estimated $.10 a gallon and we will be getting less miles per gallon. Here is the real kicker, some of the higher ups in the DEQ (department of enviromental quality) have come out publically stating that the reformulated gas won't help much if any at all. The local news had DEQ officials on from dallas and houston who have already gone to the reformulated gas and they said they haven't seen any significant improvements in ozone concentrations.

Welcome to our world up here. We've been running 10% Ethanol for as long as I can remember. Many people are convinced that it was done to boost sales for the area's corn farmers, and air quality was just a red herring.

Hell i don't understand it, I know the air can't be that much cleaner on your side of the state. I mean i can remember watching the flares at the plants not far from where you live.

Anyone ever sat down and figured this out? Reformulated gas lowers emissions, but then it takes more of it to make the vehicle go - the tailpipe volume increases. Back to square one?
