I was driving on the highway at about 70 mph and then all of a sudden the rpms raise like the tranny shifted into 3rd. Then it continued to go between 3rd and 4th but some of the times it would seem to go into neutral between these shifts and then bang into the gear. It would do this for a while then seemly stop for a while then start up again. At some points it seemed like it was hunting for the gear but it was just going into neutral then back into 4th. I have no CEL and the O/D light isn't blinking. I don't really know what it could be execpt for maybe a slipping TC.

I know exactly what your talking about!! My 95 was doing this about 3 weeks ago. It turned out to be the range sensor which sits on top of the tranny and costs about $35 at the dealer. It's sort of buried under the coolant hoses and thermostat housing, but not to hard to replace once you drain the radiator. Here is a thread on this exact problem from the transaxle forum:
