hey, you said in another post to stay away from sony xplod amps? why? i have been considering a sony XM-752EQX to drive a single Polk Audio DX10. the amp looks like a great value (not from circuit city) at $150. it has all the features i've been looking for at least. what is your complaint about sony amps or waht problems have you seen as an audio store employee? thanks for the help!
don't drink and drive.

hey sprout2287... How do you like the Panasonic 800 headunit? Do you have pics of it in the car? I wonder if it's too shiny that it stands out on the dash. Should I get one?

Rollingstash, The new sony xplod line is lower in quality than last year's mobile ES line. It seems sony is focusing more on style and appearance rather than sound quality. Listening to their amps in comparison to other equally rated amps shows their lack of clarity and power. I have also seen more xplod headunits come back to the store for service than any other brand. This is not saying that you will have a bad experience with their equipment, but in my opinion, you'll be more likely to be more pleased with another brand. Check out MTX's road thunder rt2200, it should be in the same price range. It has the crossover you need for a sub. Good luck with your decision. And no offense to anyone who owns products from the sony xplod line.

SVTimilate, I'm glad someone finally asked me this. I Do not totally recommend this headunit. As far as standing out in the dash, not a real problem for me. As far as performance goes, this is an awesome H.U.. But... In the day time, when the sun is out, I can't read the display at all. Too shiny/ reflective. This totally sucks. I have to shield the display from the sun sometimes, so I can read the track number. Also, this unit replaced my panasonic cqdf55, I liked the 55 more because I could read the display in the daytime and I didn't have to switch between time and track number (you only get one or the other) By time I mean time of day. So, if your windows are tinted, this headunit may be ok, otherwise only drive with it at night. It does look really sweet at night. And this isn't only my problem, I have a good friend with the same issue and the same unit. If you do decide to get this unit for any reason, check e-bay, I got mine new, unopened for i think $280 shipped. Like I said, other than the display I am totally pleased, I might tint my windows so I can see it better... Oh yeah BTW, I don't have any pics, sorry. For the price you can't beat the 5v preamps, center channel out, and the 3dsb. I'm keeping mine, but it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons.

Nick, thanks for posting some feedback on the Panasonic. I have often wondered about the car stereo quality. I've always considered Panasonics stuff to be really nice but had no experience with their Car stuff.
Thanks again.

Thanks sprout for all the info. I like the panasonic CQ-DF800U because it has an input aux in the back. This will allow me to hook up my MD player without purchasing an additional adapter thingy.
