Went to Standard Auto in Worcester today...picked up a non-power antenna and that little gasket/weatherstripping thingy for the leaky trunk fix.

Anyway, there were a bunch of 96-ish 'Tours there, in various states of usefulness. A few had some Zetecs still sitting in there. FYI.

Didn't see any-although I did walk around for a while. And now that you mention it, I wish they had more older stuff. The closest I came was spotting a few giant Northstar engines, just laying there.

Mike and I were in a bone yard a couple weekends ago for Grand Marquis parts.
I saw very few pre-98's there and they were fully gutted for all the good stuff possible.
It was awesome to walk around and look for the Contours though. Like a scavenger hunt.
I had a blast.

Didn't look to much in the field of engines they had; just saw those hulking Northstars with all that stupid plastic on the top.

They actually had all the 'tours in one little patch; they were near the Probes, but far away from the Tauruses.

I almost bought a full-size spare, but I didn't feel like waiting. Question: is there a certain minimum tire size that I need to go over my brakes? I just want a basic wheel and tire; one step up from those scary spares that came with our cars. When I initially asked the guy for a wheel & tire for a Contour, he said "14-inch?" I said "yeah," not really thinking about it. I ended up bailing, but would a 14 be O.K. to serve as an SVT spare?

to find a irmc it would only have to be 96 or newer, only 95's used a vacume controled secondaries

from a discution over the past weekend 14" wheels will not clear SVT brakes, not sure about 15" wheels but the SVT already had a special spare tire to clear the brakes

Linder's wouldn't let me in the yard by myself _ I thought that was odd. They said I should come on Saturday morning (with everyone else in the free world), and someone would come with me to take the parts off. Like I need some one to unscrew an antenna mast for me.

And that pull-apart place across the street was just awful _ they charged $2 just to get in! Not one Contour in the whole place. I knew I should have started with Standard.

That spare is scary, I didn't think it would hold my car up in the driveway when I rotated my tires. Maybe I'll just suck it up and keep an eye out for a single E0 wheel & tire.
