Take the front cover of the pump off and make sure there aren't any metal shavings in there. The stock pump from either engine (3L or 2.5L) *should* be fine. If there are any metal shavings in there, make sure there isn't any wear scuffs where the gears make their pressur against the housing of the pump. If there are, get a new pump or use the one from the 3L.
