The drag night at NM was a lot of fun, even if I didn't race
There are a lot of Friday and Saturday nights in the next couple months that are open for racing. Let's try to pick a date and get a sign-up list going.
Here are the available dates for open racing. Times are usually 5:30pm-11 until Oct. 24 after which the times are 10am-4pm.
Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26, 27
Oct. 3, 10, 17, 18 (3pm-10) , 24, 25, 26
Nov. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
Some important notes for those not at the track Friday:
- If you car runs under 13.99, you must wear a helmet
- Weeknight racing is $25, weekend is $30, so Friday nights are cheaper
- Spectators pay $12
- GLD isn't the best strip in the world, but its fun to race and it can be a lot less busy than Chicago-area strips (from what mikey boy tells me )... He's got a fistfull of timeslips to prove it, too.
- GLD is about 10 miles north of the WI/IL border (and 30 minutes from my house ); maps and directions are available on their website
