I have a Clarion Pro Audio DRX8675z CD reciever and pioneer 3-ways in all the doors. I love my system, but I want to add a 12" Infinity Kappa perfect sub. I want to run 25+ watts to the door speakers and 150+ watts to the sub. I was thinking about getting a 5 channel amp, but Ive always wanted a two amp setup. My question is can our electrical system take it? Ill probably get a capacator for the sub amp anyway.

Your stock electrical system without a cap would probably be fine. 500 watts+ total is kind of the starting point for a capacitor.

I have a fosgate 250 2 ch punch and a fosgate 400 4 ch punch and my cars Alternator was doing just fine. There was a little bit of light dimming but I fixed that with a lightning audio 1 FARAD Capacatator.

Which Pioneer 3-ways to you have in your doors? are they the 6x8s? or did you mod up to something else?

I am considering getting some of them (cuz I can't find many other 6X8s in Toronto) and need some feedback.

I have the Pioneer TS-A6865 3-ways in my doors. They fit perfectly...in fact they say righ on the speaker that they are direct replacement for Ford and Mazda. They sound pretty damn good too. I got them from www.cdeals.com for $60.00 a pair. That's a real good price because crutchfield has them for $99.00 a pair.

I myself have 2 Phoenix GOld XS 2300 amps in my car, that's 600 watts RMS, with no problems... lights dim a bit, but I'll probably get a cap at a later date to fix it...

I didn't have a cap originally with my Mac MC440M (400 watts). There was a small amount of dimming that was cured by a 2 farad cap.....(i went a little overboard hoping that I could someday afford a MC4000M)

I'm a 'old school' audiophile that has never used caps. Are these things dangerous? And how does one go about mounting it,where in line???

They should be mounted inline between the battery and the amp. Not really dangerous but they probably could give you a good poke. They are anywhere near as dangerous as the caps in a TV picture tube that can be fatal.

lightning audio provides a lil circuit card that is pretty idiot-proof in charging and discharging the 1 Farad caps.........

These things are "old school" - remember Richard Clark using 3 caps in parallel back circa 1991.......
