WOuld it make me a ricer if I got the upcoming Mazda 3 hatchback.
There are no specs yet. But if you guys ever drove the Protege 5, multiply how good it was by 1000 and there is the Mazda 3.
This car will be awesome. Low profile 17" tires, Bose stereo, leather, Sport package, the accessories this car will offer are phenomenal.
So would it make me a ricer, if the tour went bye bye to get the mazda.

I would have to say no. Just buying and driving an import does not automatically make you a ricer.

How did you get such a deal? how do you get one up to $28K, did it have a lot of dealer-installed options? All the "loaded" ones I've seen (including one I drove yesterday) seem to sticker around $26,500 (<$27,000 in any event).
I figure the S-plan ("friends and neighbors," same thing, no?) will get me into the $22-23K range for a 6s 5-speed with most of the main options (bose package, comfort package, sport package, leather, moonroof)
In Vermont, there's only 1 6s 5-speed in the whole state for sale (the one I drove) but it's black and I'm not interested in that color. I think I can find a blue one like yours (the color I want in the Boston area, should I just say "s-plan" when I shop or should I be aggressive with the negotiations? I've been led to believe that the v6/5-speed is a rare combo for the 6 (allegedly something like only 5% of the mix) and you'll notice that it doesn't qualify for 0% financing, no rebates, no year-end, nothing... my dealer says they've been selling them for sticker and people have been waiting "months" for them. what gives? (am I just a sucker?)

I agree - esp. if buying a Mazda (owned by Ford Motor Co) and it is made in the US (like the 6)...
IF you put a coffee can exhaust, shopping-cart wing and 20" chrome rims on it, however, yes, you WILL be branded and ridiculed

it was the last day of the month and the dealer needed the sale to make their bonus. they sold it for $1500 under invoice. the sticker on the car was $27,919. the only dealer installed options that i know of was the color matched sport grill and some sort of special emissions crap for my state. other than that it was basically every other option you could get from the factory. as far as the s-plan goes, i'm not familiar with that at all. the deal i got was absolute luck, that's why i couldn't pass it up. i actually found out about this particular dealer while i was searching online for info on the 6. a guy had bought one from them like 3 days prior to me reading his post and he was raving about the experience he had. i gotta say its the easiest car i've EVER purchased. ALL negotiations and contact were done through email. i emailed the internet sales manager and told him i was interested in purchasing a 6. he emailed me back and it happened to be exactly what i was looking for. he then emailed me a price, and that was it. no negotiations or hassles whatsoever. i drove 2 hrs north the same night and bought the car. as far as financing and rebates, there are NONE on the sport package, doesn't matter if its AT or MT. i got like 3.4% bankrate from Chase however which is awesome. just luck i guess, everything worked out perfectly for me that day.
