i'm still in, and blorton, i think you still need to come. i for one am not going to be pushing hard at all and fully plan to be at the back of the pack, if there is such a thing.

having not been there, i can't speak from experience, but i definitely could see the wisdom in splitting up the pack into 2 (or 3) as needed...

i hear what you're saying, though - but i hope you'll still join us. i'm looking forward to just hanging out w/ all the old-school folks as much or moreso than actually driving the roads up there, so it's especially discouraging to hear chris and now you talking about bailing on us.

again, i'm definitely not going to be sliding the tail out on every curve and trying to keep up with the leaders - i have a little of that 'old-fart' gene in me as well and really have no desire to try to extricate my miata from a ravine.

i'm still in one way or the other, but i'm definitely in the conservative camp for this one.

Same for me. I just want to come to enjoy the fellow CEGer companionship and enjoy the scenery. I'll be way in the back of the pack. To try and hide the dent in my hood. And since I don't know the road. I don't know about anybody else, but I think we could really use somebody who knows the area well.

I guess I have been there 5 times this year and twice last year, so I guess you could say I'm a regular. I am still undecided about going. I need at least two new tires and a front alignment before going. I will try my best to be there to show people around.

Thanks Blake, I appreciate that.

Honestly, after thinking about it a bit, I realized that a lot of people that say they will be coming to these things never do, so I'm not too worried about the group becoming overlarge. As far as the Suby group goes - more power to them. Perhaps they will draw more LEO attention that might otherwise be turned towards a bunch of rental cars.

And like has been already said, if it does turn into a big group, we'll just split it up.

So I'm back in, since the vacation time needs to be taken anyway and there are worse ways to spend a weekend than catching up with friends and fellow car buffs.

See ya'll there! I'll either be on a red/black crotch rocket or in the silver cugr. Either way, I'll know what you are in and we'll hook up.

One other thing, Blake.

I'll be looking for a ride in your little ragtop, so save a slot for me.

Have you put a bike rack on the top of it yet? (ducking)

lol. err...nope. this one will stay rack-free. that's why i'm keeping the jeep around - and it DOES have a yakima rack. ....in fact, i used the jeep today just for the very purpose of carting my mountain bike around as i skipped out the back door at work a little early to go hit the trails before we lose any more daylight.

glad to hear you're back on board...

Sorry to hear your not making it out Blake, I think we could use all the "experienced" people out there, but I understand what your saying about it getting too big. As far as the chest thumping goes, well I don't know those roads at all and even if I did, I'd still take care and I AM My wife will be with me, so thats of most importance to me, then theres my car, I don't want to ruin that either ***I want to confirm that I'm coming, we have cabin #2 in Tellico Plains***

This is the Subaru club's discussion, but it's not terribly organized right now (there's no list of definites, etc).

I'm heading to the Dragon, but not until Monday. Sounds like you all are going to have a blast.

For the Striped SVT ::
Hey, Roger...I'm driving up from Greenville SC, looking forward to meeting you (I was in on your dead pedal GB.)

For the group, two things ::

1) Where are we meeting? Again, I'm throwing the question out. Remember, lots of folks will be first-timers up there.
Friends tell me there's a gas station where Hwy 28 meets US 129 (Cross Roads of Time), and it's a good meeting place, but I don't know nuthin' 'bout it.

2) RE: the chest thumping; a call for sanity.
We are going on a Saturday; by all accounts, the busiest day.
We will probably be up there in peak hours.
I (and others) have never seen the road.
This is for cruising, and - while not trying to seem harsh - anyone with any other approach is foolhardy.
Sorry, I'm too old for any s*** up there.
I rode motorbikes on road courses in my youth, I have a clue. This is not the time or place for heroics.
I am looking forward to meeting other CEG folks, and looking forward to a little crusing on a very twisty road.
Hope I share that approach with all comers.

err...i'm still gonna be there. although, i'm not one of the experienced ones - i missed the last se-ceg TOTD run thanks to my stupidity in trying to install a random technology y-pipe and hi-flow cat the night before the trip and ending up with a heinous exhaust leak that had to get fixed instead of driving up to NC.

methinks you got blorton and i confused in your reply, but i think blorton's back on board too....
