I think there are a couple of reasons:
1. I think many potential buyers would think a car with "mods" has been ragged on more then the average car.
2. I think many potential buyers would think a car with "mods" has a greater potential for breaking down as they are unsure of the quality of the parts and/or installation of said parts.
3. If the person buying it wants to "customize" it, what fun is it if someone else already messed with it? I would want the slate clean and go from there.

I'd have to agree with Motor
I mean, who buys and mods a fast car and doesn't go fast in it? You never know what your getting when you buy second hand sports.

I personally wouldn't wanna buy a modded car...I don't want someone elses work. I wanna build the car up from scratch on my own and put my own style into it.
Having an all stock car is a + for me...not to mention people with modded cars want too damn much for them.

Also, if you turn it back to stock you can sell all the aftermarket parts and make some loot.

Most people don't seem to realize that mods to a car actually decrease the value of the car rather than increase.

I kinda see the situation now. Even the potentially attractive mods such as rims and audio equip - we all know that if we put in - let's say 3 grand - we won't be able to get even 50% back...

Take this for instance, there is a 2001 stang (plain jane mustang). Someone put 18s on it, intake, tons, of ashetics. redid the entire interior, dual exhaust, altezzas, new head lights in front. complete body kit. carbon fiber hood, with scoops (real ones not stickies). the car is up for 9,500. it has 25k on it. I went to look at it and realize it was an auto.
