I'd say spark plugs, but you don't HAVE to remove them. Not a bad idea to take 'em out and check condition & gap, though.



well atleast MY sparkplugs are not a 5/16" they are metric 16mm to me exact....


BTW anyone realize who SMALL the plugs would be if they were 5/16"

I just figured it was a type and he meant 15/16 instead of that 5/16.

Our spark plugs are 5/8.

I dont envy you guys. I just tore into mine from the bottom (oil pan gasket replacement).

It sucked.....

Very informative! I need to replace my valve cover gasket as well and the pics along with all the posts afterwards have been most helpfull.

If I may ask while I am here..... I replaced my plugs and wires a few weeks ago and this seemed to smooth an idle problem out for a while but lately the idle tends to be rougher. Any thing you folks can point me to that would lead to my correcting this would be most appreciated. Thanks in adavce. Now back to your regularly scheduled topic already in progress.......

Any Tampa, Fl area members plan on doing the gasket replacement please contact me. Could be a good chance for us all to screw something up at the same time. Although we could do more harm than our local ford dealers service shop.

mobil1 oil change w/motorcraft or K&N filter, new air filter, fuel filter,pcv valve,etc.

Out of all the time I removed the valve cover I have never changed the gasket.
