For anyone wanting to dive into your motor, it's this easy

Step #1 - remove stuff

Step #2 - remove more stuff, including intake and exhaust manifolds

Step #3 - what's this? crud? yup (and poop on Stolon's finger - YUCK!)

Step #4 - if equipped w/ VCT, YANK!!

Step #5 - also, YANK!! from the cam (this is critical)

So if all goes well, I'll need a new valve cover (any donors?). Anyway, head should be completely off tomorrow followed by removal of pistons and such from the bottom end. Anyone have some extra ARP bolts lying around?

This is one topic I will be following just because it is informative and even has pics. Keep posting pics of all your good finds, and bad finds. Tell stolon to wash his hands after he gets done going to the bathroom.

I need to put in a new Valve Cover Gasket Seal Set sometime next week and these pictures are starting to scare me.

To take the engine cover off did you need to remove the black cover to the Timing Belt? If so, was there anything funky like alien head bits or something wierd like that?

If all you're doing is replacing the valve cover gasket, then that is EASY.

That's good news to hear. I'm pretty good
with my hands. This should not be a problem
unless there are puzzles of parts and crazy
tools needed. Dam.. like that time I did the
rear brakes. That was something else, none of
the books had picture of the recall change and
the new part was bad. I recall sitting there
looking at it and scratching my head why the
fluid would not stop bleeding. But at the time
I was not advanced enough to understand that the
new part was bad until I matched the old with the
new and figured it out after a week.

If only I was good at cars like I am with computers.:D
