You need to read a sentence further:

"Though the SVO only had a three year production run, future Mustangs and the new 87 Turbo Coupe would benefit from the SVO."

Look thru the sites and find the pictures of the SVO Mustang and the Turbo Coupes right next to each other on the advertisements...coincidence?? Please. The two were BROTHERS. There's even a picture that shows an Escort 1.6L turbo GT, an SVO and a Turbo Coupe all together...looks like SVO might have had their hand in the pot in that too...

My dad was working w/ Ford at the time they were developing this car...he has an 86 Turbo Coupe also...he KNOWS this stuff and it's now been proven. Is it really that difficult for you to accept?

"Benefiting from" and "being made by" are 2 completely different things...

Compared to the SVO, the 87-88 Turbocoupes have a different turbo, intercooler, intake, and engine computer...different brakes, different suspension, different rear end. All they share is the long block. Where's the similarities?

Like I said...I am not the expert here, my father is the one who is the knowledgable one here and 99 out of 100 times he's right on, and there's Internet proof to back it up on more than one site...it's just not a hugely known fact. When people say "SVO" they automatically and only think of the Mustang...they're wrong, plain and simple.

The TBird may not bear the logo, but the SVO heritage is there.

Do you know or work w/ people who were IN THE SVO in Ford at the time they were building these? Did YOU have the inside view back in the mid 80's? All I can say is that he did.

If you really want to know, why not go and post the question on NATO? (www.turbotbird.com)

SVO didn't make the Turbocoupe, plain and simple. Some of the stuff that was developed for the SVO Mustang was adapted to the T-bird, but to say SVO was responsible for the car is a ridiculous stretch. Heck, maybe I should start calling my XR4Ti an SVO XR4Ti, it is a heck of a lot closer to the same motor as an SVO than the 87-88 turbocoupe . . . heck even the computer is a direct swap . . .

This whole thread sounds like a serious case of badge envy to me . . . just like when we all hear the ridiculous statement that the early SE was the "original SVT"

I could write a book on the things people are doing to their cars. I am going to college and am surrounded by tons of ricers. On the SVT sticker issue I just saw a Probe with one on it. As far as I know there was never a probe SVT.

Acura Integra's with Type R stickers that aren't Type R?

The way I see it, if you want to support something, riding around with incorrect stickers or badges on your car isn't the way to go about it IMHO.

I am sure the guy was trying to pass it off as an actual SVT. I don't care how close the cars "may" be, if the Special Vehicle Team from for did not build it, the badges/stickers, whatever, don't belong there. That just strikes me as a "poser."

IMO.

Rara thanks for confiming that for us. It would have been great if there really was a SVO Turbocoupe; maybe they woulda used that mythical DOHC head .

More importantly, SVT never made ANY parts for the probe. To my knowlege there isn't any svt part ever that could be swapped.

Supposedly, a couple of those DOHC heads actually got built and put into test cars (I've never seen them though) Supposedly they were the cat's arse . . .

though, I must say, i wish the SHO V6 had found its way into the XR4Ti, that would have been way cool.
