i am going to be adding subs to my system in the near future and of course an amp will have to be hooked up as well. the amp i am getting is 125W x 2 and i need to know what size wire to get.from what i heard i think i need 8-gauge, am i right? and what length wire do i need to run from the battery to the amp in the trunk???

#8 should work, you'll need about 15ft depending on routing.

Yeah, I'd say 8, but if you want to add more amps or power in the future I'd go with 4. Larger guage can't hurt you, it can only help. All you loose is a couple of dollars more. Depending on where in the trunk you mount the amp, you could need as little as 13' or as much as 19'.

If you can afford to spend a little more money for 4 gauge, i'd do it. As Sprout2287 said, it'll allow for easier upgrading in the future. Wires are a pain to run so try to avoid doing it more than once.

Definetly go 4 Guage. I started with a 10" and a 180W amp. When I got my new Amps and told the guy I was running 8G wire he started laughing at me. Then I showed him my 30A fuse and he laughed again. 4G will be a bit more but will be worth it in the future.

Well, I've got 11 ft. of 4 AWG wire you could use. As long as you don't mind mounting the amps in your back seat!!
