So, last time I pulled the engine, the exhaust bolts were the ones giving me problem. I ended up having to cut the Y-pipe to get it out last time. This time, everything went smoothly. I mean, I had everything out much easier than I thought; EXCEPT, the damn shift linkage. The thing was really easy to remove last time, it just slided out. but this time, the splined shift rod that goes inside of the case rust seized to the U-joint... I tried to pry it out but nothing worked. I just don't understand, the pinch bolt was in perfect shape yet the splined rod is seized to the U-joint. Anyone got a trick I can try before I get too pissed off and cut that rod off? I have opened the MTX-75 before so I know how to get them back together, but I'd rather not do that if I don't have to.

So I decided to cut the shaft off to get the engine out. The idiot that put the shift linkage in last time put it in crooked so the shaft was sort of wedged in there. Damn that guy! Anyway, I tried to order the parts from Bill Jenkins, and he just told me that they no longer make that shaft and he can't find it anywhere else... I'm stuck now... I guess if I can't find that shaft anywhere I'm going to throw the wheels back on and have the thing towed to a junkyard. So much for the 1st 3L 95.

BTW, here's a picture of the shaft. Part # 7L267, if you know where I can get it let me know:

Take the picture to your nearby dealership and ask them for the shaft.
Vehicle manufacturers are supposed to have replacement parts available for 10 years.
If they cannot locate it for you, then they will have to have FORD order it for you from the manufacturer.
You may have to wait for it. but at least you'll get a brand new shaft.

That's what Billy J is doing for me right now. I hate waiting though...

...and either way, you end up getting the shaft!

Oh come on, I can't be the only one that thought of that joke!

No...

You're the only one that is brazen enough to post it...
