The rear defroster in my contour is not working properly. All but 2 or 3 of the lines are not working. I read past posts that said you can find the breaks in the defroster wire and repair them. First off, where are the wires mounted? (I would assume on the interior surface of the glass) Are breaks in the wire usually obvious? Or are they hard to find? What about doing a continuity test on the wire with a meter? Would that do any good? Lastly, a repair kit was mentioned as well; how expensive are the repair kits, and would a local parts shop carry it?

Thanks,

Jake

the haynes book (dont know if its the contour book or the tarurs book, but it does show how to do, it, and list the repair kit,, epoxy glue and such(small kit) get the haynes book and look in it... i dont know if they list the part number(ford or not) but call up a ford dealer and found out it they have it and how much... if you gonna do a continuity check on the wires make sure you have a pretty
sharp probe on the test line(might even use some needles or pins with sharp points and then attach them to the end of the leads to make better contact.. be careful that you dont disturb the rest of the wires,, they probably got borken from someone cleaning the back glass too hard.....
