With the Steeda shifter my shifting has gotten slower as I can't always get into 1st or 2nd reliably. I think I grinded twice yesterday trying to get into second. I don't know how the shifting mechanism works on the tranny side of the shift cables but it feels like the stick has to go further to the left (driver side) in order to slip into any gear easier.

I need to dig out my Ford repair manual cd to see if there is anything in there about adjustments. If not, I may have to take the Steeda out and throw the stock one back in until I can get things figured out. The Steeda shifter would be perfect if I could just get things to be as smooth as butter as it was with the stock shifter.

(1) Did you put enough lube on the main ball??
(2) Did you coax it around a bit once you got the two plastic pieces back on to get it nice and evenly ditributed?
(3) Did you pop the main shift cable on correctly?

Check for all of that, just in case. . .that's weird, real weird, might be a tranny related problem, I dunno. Is your shift cable at the end of its life? What about the shift cable bushings? Replaced recently?

Oh, about the flame war on the centering spring, to each his own, seriously guys. . .it will quicken the shift, no doubt since I installed it both ways and found out the hard way, but it's a matter of preference. . .
