I put 260 miles on my car in one day this past Saturday during the Capital CEG meet and did a ton of shifting some at pretty high speeds through some nice winding roads in VA and couldn't be any happier ALL my shifts were firm and quick with no miss shifts or grinding of gears!

Do the install right and don't rig anything and you won't be sorry

Basically, the sping is useless. You can put it in, or leave it out. It's just that leaving it out will ever so slightly make it easier to stick it in any gear from the neutral position. It's a centering spring. That's all.
